Doug Legacy - The Muppets, Zydeco Party Band

Mike Gormley Presents...Doug Legacy!
Doug Legacy is a musician and one of the founding members of the Zydeco Party Band. He has puppeteered background characters on Muppets Tonight and his band was featured as the house band for the show (with Legacy playing accordion). Doug is also known for The Bucket List (2007), Gilmore Girls (2000), and Muppets Tonight (1996).
Doug wound up in Los Angeles in 1977 where he immediately won the Gong Show playing steel drums. He then went on to play them with Rod Stewart (a significant vocal influence on Doug), where he met Jimmy Z, playing great blues harp and tenor sax on this album.
Jimmy Z went on to play with Jeff Beck and the Eurythmics. Doug had the honor to back up Paul McCartney on background vocals and accordion. He also sang for Brian Wilson, Todd Rundgren and Oingo Boingo. Oingo Boingo bassist John Avila plays on the first track of this album.
Doug founded the Zydeco Party Band over 20 years ago and has released several albums. King Cake Party (1990) was produced by Jim Keltner and Freebo and had guest artists Ry Cooder and David Lyndley on it. It was released on Elvis Costello and Nick Lowe’s label Demon in Europe and Japan.
Doug also made an album with the Oingo Boingo band in 1996 called Doug and the Mystics “New Hat” released in Europe on Colosseum Records. Doug has worked on many projects with Van Dyke Parks as a musician and engineer. Van Dyke introduced Doug to Grant Geissman who plays great guitar on this project. Long-time friend and collaborator Gary Ferguson play solid drums and percussion. Gary has played for artists such as John Hiatt and Eddy Money. Dave Eastly has been the 1st chair bassist for the Zydeco Party Band for the last five years. He also leads his own big band and has been a multi-instrumentalist at Disneyland for over twenty years!

Anais Reno first made her appearance on this show when she was only 17. She blew me away with her voice and her talent.
Anaïs has been involved in the performing arts since age 8.
After winning the 2016 Forte International Competition’s Platinum Award at Carnegie Hall, Anaïs won Second Place at Michael Feinstein’s Great American Song Book Academy competition in the summer of 2018.
She was the youngest contestant ever, First Place at the Mabel Mercer Foundation competition, in New York.
In March of 2019, at age 15. In 2020, she won the Julie Wilson award.
On November 2021, she was announced as one of the finalists for Young Arts in jazz voice - - - -out of 3 voice finalists nationwide!
Studying voice since 2013 with Sarah Tolar at the 92nd Street Y as well as with her father, a former opera singer, Anaïs graduated in the spring of 2021 from LaGuardia High School where she studied drama.
Anaïs is now a college student, and attends SUNY Purchase, where she is studying jazz voice with Alexis Cole and opera with Sherry Overholt, as an Ella Fitzgerald scholar!
When she was 10, Anaïs began singing with highly acclaimed professionals in the field and performing in prominent venues.
She has performed with the NY Philharmonic in David Geffen Hall with her own compositions.
Her debut album, celebrating the music of Duke Ellington and Billy Strayhorn, titled, “Lovesome Thing: Anaïs Reno sings Ellington & Strayhorn with the Emmet Cohen trio,” was released in 2020 and received international critical acclaim, as well as climbing to NUMBER 6 on the jazz chart after performing in the Top 10 for 4 consecutive weeks.
Anais was featured on Inside Edition and Good Day NY, on the “New York State of Mind” welcome back to NY video, with such stars as Idina Manzel and Stephen Colbert, and she sang “America the Beautiful” for the 2021 9/11 Mets/ Yankees game.

Hal Douglas Makes Me Happy -
In a World...
Voiceover artist Hal Douglas was born Harold Cone on September 1, 1924, in Stamford, Connecticut.
Hal was the son of Samuel and Miriam Levenson Cone.
Hal and his brother Edwin were primarily raised by their grandparents Sarah and Tevya Levenson after their mother died when Hal was only nine.
Hal trained as a pilot and served three years in the Navy during World War II. He wrote fiction in his spare time and upon finishing his tour of duty enrolled on the G.I. Bill at the University of Miami, where he studied acting.
After moving to New York, he changed his last name to Douglas and began supplementing his slight income from acting gigs with voiceover and announcer work on both radio and television.
Hal soon became one of the most sought-after (and instantly recognizable) vocal talents for commercials and lead-ins for TV shows.
Douglas worked steadily out of New York and not only continued to lend his distinctive gravelly baritone to television but also narrated the occasional documentary and countless film trailers in various genres.
